Since its inception, Headstart Learning Centre’s vision has been to be an inclusive school that personalises the learning experience for each child. The Change Leader Sudha Mahesh, the founder-principal of HLC International, comes with more than four decades of experience as an educator. Responsible for driving and ideating all the policies, strategies, and innovations in the school, she is also involved in imparting pedagogical training and teacher workshops. Before starting HLC international, she was an educator for over 20 years in other schools. Discontented and wishing that pedagogy was more child-centric and inclusive, she and her husband resigned their jobs and moved to Chennai to start HLC International. Sudha Mahesh draws her influence from Madam Montessori, and Jiddu Krishnamurthy who both believe in placing children at the centre of learning. Taking her influence one step further, she has authored a range of Mathematics and Phonic textbooks, which are global bestsellers. She has also been associated with organisations such as Scholastic, Tulika Publications and Karadi Tales, and has planned curriculum for the Tamil Nadu Department of Education as well as the Organisation of Muslim Educational Institutes Association of Tamil Nadu.
